**Tiradentes Day in Brazil** is a national holiday celebrated on **April 21st** to honor **Joaquim José da Silva Xavier**, known as **Tiradentes**, a key figure in Brazil's fight for independence from Portuguese colonial rule. Tiradentes was a leading member of the **Inconfidência Mineira**, a revolutionary movement in the late 18th century that sought to establish an independent Brazilian republic. Although the movement failed, Tiradentes became a symbol of bravery and resistance after he was captured, tried, and executed by the Portuguese authorities on April 21, 1792. His martyrdom inspired future generations in the struggle for independence, which Brazil achieved in 1822. Today, Tiradentes Day is marked by ceremonies, parades, and reflections on Brazil's history and the importance of freedom and democracy.
